Conference Co-Director Carolyn Zahner, MSW, LISW, has been in private practice as an Integrative Psychotherapist since 1996. She utilizes Constellation Work in her psychotherapy practice, as well as, in her work as a mediator, instructor and community organizer. In addition to using Constellation work in the individual setting, Carolyn facilitates group Constellations.
She brings extensive experience in the fields of social and human services, women’s studies and theology to her work in Constellations. Carolyn offers an eclectic approach incorporating Jungian, Gestalt, Systems Theory, Body Sensory and Art and Play therapies into her work and utilizes ritual, ancestral work and indigenous perspectives. Her psychotherapy practice has been most impacted by Carl Jung and Virginia Satir. She teaches several professional workshops, including Integrating the Spiritual Life, Alternative Treatments & Psychotherapy … An Ethical Responsibility. She also teaches courses in feminine defined theologies and eco-psychology. Carolyn received a BA in Criminal Justice Corrections in 1978, a Master of Social Work degree in 1987 and completed training as a mediation specialist in 1996. She has trained with Albrecht Mahr, Gunthard Weber, Jacob Schneider, Guni Baxa, Sneh Victoria Schnabel, Gabrielle Borkan and others.
Carolyn is interested in researching the impact of religion and trans-generational social trauma on those who display psychotic symptoms and examining how Systemic Constellation Work can be used to redefine and ease the debilitating manifestations. She is also interested in exploring the hidden field of women in the larger field of the family or community system and how lack of historical knowledge of the social trauma of women impacts the outcomes of Constellations.
